 Ciaossu! and welcome to Firefly a one page shrine to Basilicum from the Anime & Manga Katekyo Hitman Reborn! Basil as he's more commonly known as is a very minor character who appears in the Varia Arc. He only appears on and off through the whole arc, but he's still one of my favorite characters in the series. So I made this small tribute after looking at a one page shrine to Matt from Death Note and realizing that even minor characters deserve tributes because they are so kickass! But why Basil? I mean that whole arc has awesome new characters. Basil attracts me more than any of them. It could be his innocence, charm, or maybe just his archaic manner of speech. No matter what it is he still rocks the sexy.

Basil is from Italy, like half the characters. He has a control of a Dying Will Flame with Rain Attributes and uses it far better than Tsuna (at least when they first meet) even thoguh Tsuna's Sky Flame should be able to out muster Basil's flame easily. Also Basil is one of the few characters whose flame shows up on their forehead all the others can summon their flames but the way that Basil and Tsuna summon their flames is somehow unique. He can go into dying will mode at will due to pills created by his master specifically for his use. He has been trained to use the dying will mode since he was a child and his abilities for controlling it is advanced. He also understands the principle behind contolling it. He speaks in an archaic manner using thou, thy, thee, -ith, and other such terms.
Basil often talks about his Master, whom we later find out is Iemitsu, Tsuna's Father. Iemitsu trained Basil in everything he knows. Thus why Basil is so, so odd. He does laundry using a washboard (Iemitsu told him that was how Japanese people dod laundry), and really, has almost no clue about modern technology. He is very polite with contrasts with how Iemitsu acts half the time. Really from some of Basil's comments about his master you'd think Iemitsu was screwing with him for fun.
Basil comes to Japan with a mission, he was told by Iemitsu that he must deliver half of the Vongola Rings to Tsuna, Reborn, and Tsuna's Guardians. He actually does do this even though he fights Squalo and almost dies. Then like a DUMBASS Tsuna ends up losing them to Squalo. Never fear! They were actually fake. Dino got the real ones from Iemitsu, and Basil was just used to distract them.
That's not all Basil does he also trains Tsuna to control the dying will flame. He does the wash too. He also helps gather the guardians to save Lambo when Levaithan comes after him. He even sticks around and provides moral support to Tsuna and the guardians. This isn't his real job though, Basil is a member of the CEDEF which stands for Consulenza Esterna Della Famiglia their job is to advise the Vongola bosses and help the family in times of crisis.
He is definatly stylin' in fact I'd love to raid his wardrobe. What does he wear? He has a black blazer, a white button up shirt, a colored undershirt (usually red or blue), and of course some cute jeans. He does change clothes but all his clothes are fairly similar. He is actually seen doing wash. At least from the look of the manga he does.
As for his hair, it's a dirty blonde... like a sand color. I say dirty blonde as opposed to brunette because Tsuna is clearly a brunette and Basil's hair is a lot more blonde. Basil has eyes as blue as his dying will flame. He's a skinny little thing, but very average in his height.
Basil is especially loyal. Even though Iemitsu used him as a distraction, he stays loyal to him. He also is loyal to Tsuna and his family, he wants only to do a good job serving him. Basil is kind and happy-go-lucky. Even when fighting he's never seems particularly stressed. He really just wants to be useful. He doesn't mind if it hurts him as long as he can be of use to his master and his family.
In fact the only negative emotion would be a small frustration. On occasion you can see that he is frustrated by the fact that he failed his mission and lost to Squalo but he tries to hind these emotions.
I wish Basil was a main character because he's so, so, adorable. Why do I love him? Well, because he's cute and he speaks archaically. Oh, and the name of the site. Firefly. I named it that because Basil controls the dying will flame to a point where he can use it for hours on end. As for the other reason I thought the moth to a flame principle as far as loyaity goes.
