After ten years Yamamoto has changed a lot. He is no longer the "baseball idiot" but instead he now has a unique strength. As an official guardian he has advanced his swordsmanship to the point where he can summon his flame to open boxes even without a ring. Yamamoto is also now a suit wearing mafioso and was training to be a major league baseball player for a little bit before returning to his family full time. Yamamoto's father has been killed in the TYL arc.

Yamamoto's younger self is also sent to the future which actually helps to reveal more about older Yama-chi. Yamamoto's new skills aren't all so new. His abilities with his flame stem from his younger self being able to channel through the ring on his first shot. Yamamoto is also sent to train with Reborn but quickly advances too far for Rebon to be of any help. So enter Squalo's home videos. Squalo thought it would be a good idea to tape his 100 battles on his way to becoming the sword master in a cleverly entitled set called "The Road to Becoming the Sword Emperor". Apparently Squalo had been sending them to his older-self as individual fights in order to draw Yamamoto back into the path of the sword.

After three days Yamamoto has watched each one and improved himself to the point where his Sigure Souen Style can be used to pierce Reborn's hat. Yamamoto is then told the secret of the Acrobaleno as Yamamoto's training is announced to be complete. Yamamoto has already shown off an improved reaction time from this training and more shall be seen in later chapters.
